Volunteers

The Hop Garden's volunteers are the backbone to its success - there's always plenty to do and many hands make light work! We meet every 2nd Sunday in the month from 2-3.30pm year round (although the sessions are sometimes shorter in the winter months if it's too cold or snowy to do much!). There are also opportunities to come along at other times during the summer, including Wednesday afternoons (3 - 4.30pm, April to September inclusive)

There are jobs to suit all levels of experience, and we provide training, tools and other equipment you may need, so you just need to bring along warm clothes (even in summer, usually) and a willingness to get stuck in to the task in hand.

But it's not all work and no play though, as we ensure our volunteers are always well stocked on tea/coffee and biscuits and go home with fresh produce from the garden according to the season as a 'thank you' for your efforts. We also have a compost toilet - that doesn't smell - and a straw bail urinal for the men. If it does rain, the large shed is a perfect place to shelter and do some indoor jobs on the potting bench.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering, drop in the garden for a chat whenever we're open (ask for Sarah), or send an email to:
thehopgarden@toucansurf.com with your phone number and we'll call you back.
